Joke's On Us
Okay this is getting ridiculous. It's been 70 days. BP hasn't been able to stop the flow of oil, and the White House is not coordinating any effort to get the oil that is in the Gulf cleaned up.
In the beginning, I was tolerant of their excuses. I mean really, they didn't spill it. They aren't engineers. They have no idea how to fix it. I mean making more Czars and appointing even more beaurocrats to over sea crap was ridiculous, but what did you expect them to do? President Obama isn't going to go out their with a net and start fishing the stuff out.
But I've now had it. Hurricane season is upon us and the first storm is pushing the oil onto the Gulf coasts. The pictures of brown muck all over the place are disgusting. And people that are trying to do things like using the skimming boats or whatever they are called, are being shut down by the coast guard so that the coast guard can check to ensure they have enough life vests on board.
Really? I'm starting to think the Fed just isn't taking this seriously.
So then today I read that our dear old fed finally is accepting foreign aid. So foreign ships that can help skim off this oil from greater depths are FINALLY going to be allowed to do so. It's only been 70 days.
My mother and I often have said that people back east just don't give two clicks about the south. It's not happening to them, so it must not be happening. This is why they don't take immigration seriously, and it's why they aren't taking the oil spill seriously.
If this really is the greatest natural disaster ever for us, we need to treat it as such. We need to be thinking of all possibilities. Like sending a bunch of bombs down that hole to try and seize and close it up. Or using the chemicals we know that work, but that the EPA won't allow. If it really is imperative that this spill be quelled, than we need some out of this world solutions.
Because at this point, we're all holding our breaths that the two reserve lines work in August, because it doesn't look like their is a shot in the dark of this thing being contained before then.
But Anderson Cooper is reporting live from New Orleans (he loves reporting there - even before the spill - I swear once a week he's in LA). He's interviewing Parish Presidents (what's a Parish President? What's my county equivilant?) and locals who are devestated and angry. And the White House sends Joe Biden down there for a photo op? How insensitive.
These people need a clue. And I really, truly, sincerely hope that someone stands up and says "listen bucko's, this is what we're going to do so shut up and fall in line."
And what the heck is this?? The Dems don't want the Reps down to the coast? For the love of Pete people ... can we put on our grown up pants and deal with this? I swear these guys are wandering around the Capitol in those Huggies jeans diapers. Oh so stylish ... but still full of poop.
