If you could meet one person ...

I think, if I could choose, one dead person to sit down with ... or at least one of the people I would choose is Anne Boleyn.  I think I would like to ask her if all the dramatic adaptations of her life are accurate, or even close to accurate.

A friend of mine is watching season 2 of the Tudors so it made me put my DVD's in and I've been watching Season 2.  Seasons 1 and 2 of that show are the best, by the way.  Three is okay.  Four, by the looks of the first episode, is just ehh.  But neither three or four have Natalie Dormer.  And she's awesome.

But I would ask her, did she mean to do what she did?  Or was it her Dad?  Did her Dad and Uncle and the men in her life push her to the ambition she acquired?  Or was she the woman that history is viewing her, a conniving protestant that helped convince a King that you did not need priests to pray to God, and that God could speak directly to him, thereby making the Kings every whims the whims of God?  Did she intend for that to happen?  Or was that just a ploy to get the King a divorce?

Did she want to be Queen?  Or did her family want her to be Queen?

And was she guilty of some of the things she was accused of?  Or, like she did to Katherine before her, did people trump up charges to get her out because of the miscarriage and the birth of Elizabeth, a girl?

If that's true, than I want to sit down with King Henry.  And I'd like to show him the truth about genetics.  And I'd like to show him a mirror, and say that the only person he had to blame for the lack of a male heir ... was himself.

The other people I'd like to meet ... Benjamin Franklin, I'd like to ask him, as a founding father, what he did envision, and how far he did envision.  I'd like to wake up Lee Harvey Oswald too.  Just because I think all modern political intrigue arises out of his spector.  And I want to know ... did he act alone?

I'm sure there are others.  But Anne Boleyn, the ill-fated queen who's tomb is an after thought, I wonder about her.

Amen! I hate how in Season 2 the king assumes that since the premature baby was deformed it couldn't be his. I just want to pop his giant head!

At least she got the last laugh through her daughter Elizabeth!
