Notes

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, you are a scumbag of the lowest order.  He is running for Chris Dodd's senate seat and likes to tell Veterans he served in Veitnam, only he didn't.  He dodged with special defferments a bunch of times.  He's scum.

I'm kind of tired of the BP oil spill blame game.  I'm also tired of BP getting a lot of flack for some of the ridiculous ideas they are trying.  I know they are ridiculous, but I've been listening to some engineers and they say some of the most ingenious and modern science is coming out of this tragedy.  And I'd rather they try anything and everything, be it ridiculous or not, to try and get this fixed. So far, they've been partly successful.  The big bucket they were going to place over the leak failed, but the pipe siphoning off "some" of the spill is working.

Arizona immigration.  Oi vey.  Let me get this straight.  The Federal Government refuses to enforce the immigration policy as it is written.  So Arizona's legislature grants authority to the locals to enforce said policies, and the world is in a tizzy?  70% of Arizona's population is in favor of this law.  That sounds like a state's rights issue and they are taking care of business.  Arizona has had a big increase in border violence and ranchers have been killed by illegal aliens.  They are tired of the violence.  And I'm really tired of the White House and others in this administration that are saying all sorts of bad things about this bill but haven't read it.  Attorney General Eric Holder was on all the Sunday talk shows talking about how bad it was and then when questioned in committee admitted he hadn't read it.  Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano, also nothing nice to say about the law, hasn't read it.  GROAN.  These are the people that run our country!

And seriously, what is up with Andrew Sullivan?  The man is bat crazy.  I do not care about the sexual orientation of Elena Kagen.  He has a small point that Kagen has a limited paper trail, but if the papers are released from her time at the Clinton White House, surely that will suffice?

President Obama signed the Daniel Pearl Free Press Act yesterday, and managed to insult the press corps while he did it.  When asked if he would take questions, he said the press was free to ask questions, but he wouldn't be answering any.  It'll be interesting, as the blog notes, to see if and when the press turns on him.
