Dual Income Households and Kids
Another item via a shared feature. Dual-Income Parents: The Exhausted American Middle
The article is interestng just because so many Americans now are having to be two income in order to stay a float. The days of mom (or dad) staying home to raise the kids are kind of gone, because so few people can afford it.
My main issue with the article is that it thinks the solution for middle America is legislation that makes work places more family friendly. That's ridiculous. You can not legislate people into better financial situations or better jobs. People have to do that for themselves, if they can. If they can't ... they take their licks and they soldier on, trying to eek out the best possible life they can for themselves.
The other thing about the article that irritates me, is that the opening paragraph is this huge slap to stay at home moms, who are "bored." Please. The woman the article mentioned would love to be so "bored" I'm sure.
