The View Around Here
Is very different than it's been ... well ever. I can't see my feet. And I really have no concept of how big my belly is, until I see my reflection in a mirror sideways. I still think I'm pretty tiny. And then I see the evidence above (or I try to get up quickly) ... and well ... yeah I'm 8 months pregnant. No doubt.
Now I've embarked upon an arts and crafts project for the baby's room. This is the starting of it, and I'm not going to photograph them finished until they are up and (hopefully) beautiful in his room. I kept looking around for certain things that I wanted to adorn his walls, but I never could find what I was thinking of. So I decided, I'll make it. Now, my hand is not that great at drawing or painting so this may be a futile effort. But so far so good.
And for the record ... little girls rooms have multitudes of artwork to choose from. You can find pink stuff to drown a girls room in if you wanted. Signs that say "little princess" no problem. Signs that say "Daddy's Little Girl" no problem. Pink and black french boutique? Yup, they have that too. (My neighbors are doing that - it looks soooo good). But little boys? Little boys rooms who don't want trucks and cars? Yeah good luck.
I could have gone the easy way and done animals or trucks or cars, but it just didn't feel right. They are all adorable, you really can't go wrong with any of them, but I just couldn't see decorating the walls that way. It just was not my vision. Although, there is the CUTEST giraffe at Target that I think I'm going to have to own.
That's all part of it ... but the other thing was money. It's like wedding crap. Put "baby" in front of anything and add $50-$1000 to the price. It's ludicrous. We did splurge on the bedding, and I did splurge and get the rocking chair I wanted. But I got that 15% off and it was on sale on top of that. If it weren't for the stupid delivery fees, it would have been quite reasonable.
Oh anyway. 8 weeks and counting. I can't wait for the baby shower and for mom to help me with the valance!
