The Baby Network
Since becoming pregnant, I have learned a great many things. The most important of which is ... that I know absolutely nothing. This leads to the reaching out, to the grasping at those that have gone before. Or sharing the newness of this with other first time mommies - like my next door neighor. Who's friendship has really made this whole experience really fun.
But this is where the above mentioned "network" comes in. My husband and I were shocked at the offers we received for gently used items. We have this, do you want it? Stacy I have these clothes, can you use them? You'll need this, loved mine, here please use it! It's this large spider web of friends and family who share baby supplies and advice.
I have benefited so, so, so much from the generosity of my family and friends. If it were not for my mother-in-law, I would probably still be intimidated of maternity stores to this day, and wearing garbage bags to work. If it were not for Emily and Suzanne, I would either be wearing the same two things over and over again or I'd be broke having spent a fortune on maternity clothes.
The outpouring continues as they offer baby clothes their munchkin has outgrown, supplies they used in the early days but no longer need, and general advice on what to expect.
So I just want to take this space today to say the largest of largest THANK YOU'S to everyone who has collected clothes or any other baby related item for us. Whether that be from their own collection or from the Thrift Shop. Living away from family you start to feel really isolated and really bewildered as to how you're going to do it all. When others step in to offer help it's such a blessing and I truly, truly appreciate it. It makes all the difference in the world.
I promise to return everything in good condition, so that it can be passed on to other points in the baby network. I also promise, to pay it forward, sharing my gently used items with others.
