Tebow Pro-Life Ad To Air During Super Bowl
I may be late to this party. But I just heard about this.
From ESPN:
NOW has asked that the ad be taken off the air as it isn't appropriate to air during the super bowl. PETA ran ads one year, if I recall. No one said that wasn't appropriate.
Newsbusters has video of NBC host David Shuster shouting at a Focus on the Family representative that was talking about how this is just one woman's choice and how inspirational it is and how interesting she finds it that NOW wants to censor this particular woman's choice.
Newsbusters also has Joy Behar from the view talking about how Tim Tebow could have been a rapist, so really this is no case for pro-life at all. The woman blows my mind.
Whoa - USA Today has a really insulting piece in their "Faith and Reason" section. The worst part about it is it's author thinks its even handed.
Are they kidding? These aren't quotes from NOW or any other pro-choice advocacy group, they appear to be from the author. Wonder who's side she's on.
I don't think that the Tebow's are trying to say anything like the above. I think what they are saying is, if your doctor tells you that you need an abortion, stand up for what you feel is right. Tell them no. She did, and it worked out okay. She choose life, and it worked out okay. This outcome may not be the same for everyone, but they believe choosing life is what matters, and not what a doctor is comfortable with.
I think both sides of this issue have as much right as the other to be heard.
By the way - Tim Tebow was like, my most least favorite quarterback this past year. I think he's overrated as a player and the announcers were just way too in love with him. As a person however, he seems to be a stand up dude.
From ESPN:
The ad -- paid for by the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family -- is expected to recount the story of Pam Tebow's pregnancy in 1987 with a theme of "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life." After getting sick during a mission trip to the Philippines, she ignored a recommendation by doctors to abort her fifth child and gave birth to Tim, who went on to win the 2007 Heisman Trophy while helping his Florida team to two BCS championships.

What's not to love? What's the issue here? How about...
I love my family more than you love your family" v. My love is as good as yours.
Or
God honors my choices, not yours.
