Is this Legal?

Can they really bypass the conference process and consolidate the two bills in Democrat negotations behind closed doors?

Does this seem right?  Really?  The Democrats are going to be solely responsible for overhauling 1/7th the US economy and the citizens of this country won't know what's in the final bill until it's on the President's desk.  That does not sound like deliberative democracy to me.  That does not sound like the most open and ethical Congress ever.

But who cares.  It's the President's baby.  And it must pass.  Hook or by crook.

Nancy Pelosi is getting testy with the President, who it seems pretty much told her "just approve the Senate version."  To which her ruffled feathers said, "no sir, that's not how this works."

CSPAN wants the negotiations to be broadcast on TV, per the Presidents multiple campaign promises to do so, but Nancy said no.

Yeah for transparency.

The whole thing stinks.  Polling shows 2/3rds of the public are against this health care bill.  And Democrats are jumping ship.  Dorgan announced he's not seeking re-election, as will Chris Dodd this morning.  Dodd's, I'd wager, has more to do with his ethics investigations, but his constitutents have spoken as well and pretty much said they won't re-elect him.

Those are just the beginning.  The majority of the voting public is opposed to this legislation.  They are probably even mroe opposed to the way it's being handled.  In secret, behind closed doors, without compromise and without the input of the people.  Who have an opinion on how their health care should be governed.

This isn't about your health, I will remind you, this is about political capitol.  If it were about your health the bill would be 300-400 pages long, in plain English, and people would be able to make sense of it.  This is confusing on purpose, long on purpose, and convoluted on purpose so no one knows whats in it, and no one understands it.

Sad really.  I'll be watching.
