Hello 2010!

2009 was a good year for us.  We had our share of mishaps, our share of disappointments and concerns, as most of our countrymen (and indeed fellow world citizens) did.  But we were blessed more than most, and really, everything else is so small.  And I am grateful beyond words for our lives, our family, and the memories that we continue to create.

This picture isn't half of what we did this year ... but ...

January we went and watched Tech in the Cotton Bowl against Ole Miss.  We lost, but we had fun doing it.

February we took our ski trip with my family to Snow Basin, Utah were the skiing was awesome and I hope we go back some day.

March Jen and her children drove from Indianna down to Texas and all the cousins were able to visit and spend time together (and get their pictures taken).  The kids get so big!

April we went to Wisconsin to visit Lewis's parents for his mother's birthday.  It was a surprise for her that I think we pretty well received!

May our good friends in Denver were expecting their first child so we went up for the baby shower to help welcome the little girl!  Who is now, oh my gosh like 6 months old?  And completely beautiful.

June I traveled to Ohio for my sister's wedding shower and her (then) fiancee's graduation from Grad school.  Hail the conquering graduate!

July Lewis and I went to Boston for another dear friends wedding ... we had so much fun staying downtown and doing the tourist thing and wishing them well in their new life together.  Later that same month, my sister got married in Columbus, Ohio, and family from all over got together.  And my parents and their wacky friends danced.  It has to be one of the all time greatest pictures every taken (above Hannah's birthday cake).

August we went to Houston to visit the family down that way and we happened to be there for two of our nieces birthdays!

September we got party pass tickets to see the House that Jerry built and I have not forgiven him since.

October ... we were really busy.  Lewis had his brothers trip, my brother came to visit from Lubbock, Lewis went to Las Vegas for a bachelor party ... but strangely ... there are no pictures from this month!

November we celebrated another very good friends wedding here in Fort Worth!  All of our rowdy Raiders were there and it was so good to see everyone.  For Thanksgiving Lewis and I went to Pittsburg, KS wyhere my sister and her new husband traveled from Louisville, KY, my brother from Lubbock, my parents from CA all converged on my welcoming Aunt and cousins and had turkey and fun times!

December we had our annual Christmas party (which I think went rather well considering we had way more people that my house can hold!) and we traveled to Wisconsin for the Christmas holidays.  As I said earlier, I had not seen my brother-in-law Jason in years so it was wonderful to catch up and hear everyones news and just to see everyone and spend time together.

Wow ... looking back it's no wonder this year flew by.  We were always busy visiting friends and family and really I wouldn't have it any other way.

We've lived in Dallas for our third full year now (starting on four I think today!) and every year I'm so glad we live here.  We have wonderful friends from school, and new friends we make all the time.  These relationships are precious and I hope we continue to nurture them and support each other.  It takes time to build these relationships and no one knows that better than I.  I'm amazed and awed that so many people like spending time with us!

But of all the things we did in 2009 ... the one that will probably have the most lasting change ... we found out we are pregnant!  And I have to say 2010 is already the greatest year ever because it'll be the year my son is born.

Just writing that makes me smile.

Welcome 2010!
