All the Comforts
So I've been on a Comfort Food kick. It's the cold weather. But I made Chicken Pot Pie last weekend, tonight it's Chili, and tomorrow ... drum roll please ... I'm using the slow cooker I bought over a year ago and making a pot roast.
I can not wait to eat the carrots and the potatoes. Yum!
The Chicken Pot Pie was good, but I need to work on my dough making skills. First, I made too much. So it was too thick. Lewis says the easiest thing to do is buy those pre-made ones. But how can I claim I made it from scratch if I do that?! Oh well. Everything else was easy though. It's not a comfort food staple for nothing.
I also owe my husband an apple pie, which I think I will make tonight while the chili steeps. I know it's not adventerous, but in perusing my usual recipe haunts ... the new and different dishes just aren't calling out to me. I'm looking for hearty. But hey I've always been a meat and potatoes kind of girl.
Mother - you will also be pleased to note that I looked up some knitting classes here. The cheapest ones (yes!) are in Dallas closer to my office than my house but I might be able to take my knitting over there and see how it goes. I'm a fair beginner, but the more advanced patterns might as well be Greek to me and how does one improve without moving forward?
I also hung curtains, since this is turning into an update. Which I hung too high. :( But that's a pretty ... well it's not that easy of a fix but it is fixable. I have not been reading much. Or I haven't been reading much fiction. But that hasn't stopped my book buying addiction. Nope not one bit. So there's lots in the pipeline there.
Also, if you haven't heard of her ... The Pioneer Lady is a pretty fun place to visit. I made her Strawberry Shortcake Cake and it was soooo good.
Need to cook dinner.
