Michael Jackson
I remember my parents bought Thriller. And I was raised on all of his songs. My adult life has seen more of the crazy then of his crazy brilliance. And honestly his death does not erase the bad things he was accused of, nor does it lessen how bad they and the other crazy things, were. But his music videos set the standard for all music videos. And I LOVED this one and this song. And really, who else could pull of a sequins gold vest? :)
But THIS is my favorite MJ song of all time, maybe. Until I think of another one.
His musical brilliance, at least 15-40 years ago, really knows no equal. Every song / video that has been made since him was impacted by his style, sound, and greatness. Justin Timberlake wouldn't be where he is right now if MJ hadn't come first.
I'm sad for his children, and the shades of crazy his life became after his early childhood success.
Godspeed, and God bless his children. I hope they find some peace and solace somewhere away from the media circus.

Already CBS is asking for the President's remarks. I agree with their analysis. It needs to be done carefully, if at all. Jackson was a great musician, but his life was marred by terrible allegations that don't really warrant a lot of respect. It's hard to balance those realities with the loss to the pop culture scene, and to those of us who grew up with his music. But it has to be done.
