Miss Beautiful Morals
The women we've left behind are embracing their obediance and passivity. The Miss Beautiful Morals competition is in it's second year in Saudi Arabia and the AP wrote:
Women can't celebrate their minds, their ideas or even their God given looks in Saudi Arabia. They can only celebrate their obediance.
And while the AP seems to think this is far superior to our own beauty pagents, which are based on looks and little else (IMO), because this beauty pagent does not base it's judgement on how thin, or adapt with a make up brush the contestant is, I think the idea of women parading around trying to prove they are the most obediant is a little bit gag inducing.
The Miss Beautiful Morals pageant is the latest example of conservative Muslims co-opting Western-style formats to spread their message in the face of the onslaught of foreign influences flooding the region through the Internet and satellite television.

I'm not really going to argue that because I don't really think I can.
In light of how women in Saudi Arabia are treated, I find the idea of a pagent that celebrates their obediance, gag inducing.
Yes.
