Arlen Will Vote to End Cloture

As the blogs figured when Arlen switched his allegiance from Rep to Dem, he's now looking for a way to support the Card Check bill that's going to be brought to the Senate.
I just wonder what he's thinking here.  Harry Reid dissed him when he stripped him of his seniority.  So I was kind of wondering if Spector would thumb his nose at the leadership on the card check issue.  But, since he's meet with the union leaders he seems to be changing his tune.  But he's been elected by a right of center (or right of left) district for many years.  Switching his party is one thing, but his politics?  And his seniority was his linch pin, he held a powerful position on the appropriations committee and could practically guarentee money for the state.  He can no longer do that.

So what did SEIU promise him?

But Spector doesn't really have a choice.  He's mostly concerned about re-election.  The Reps were running Toomey against him in the Primary and Toomey was winning.  He had to switch to try and keep his seat.  But he must have known that he'd have to give them the cloture proof majority in order to garner favor?  American Spectator says that Dems are / were threatening him with a Dem primary if he failed to support Card Check.  So big surprise now - since his job is threatened, AGAIN - that he's going to support Card Check.

But my question is, even if they don't run a Dem in the primary against him, how can he think his constituency will continue to support him?

Do they just support him because it's him?  Because he's been there for years and is a staple?  Or do they notice how he votes on things?
