White House: No Bow to Saudi

From Ben Smith at Politico

The White House is denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets.

"It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Um, I've seen the picture ...
He bowed.
And I've seen the video (it's at the link above if you want to see it).  He bowed.  On purpose.  The guy is not that much shorter than him.  And look at the President's knee?  He's practically about to propose.  I mean look at the picture.  He's bowing.  He is recognizing the supremacy and royalty of the Saudi King.
You can't put lipstick on a pig, White House spokesperson, and you can't make a bow hand holding.

Clinton got trashed for dipping his head to the Japanese (whih is all I've heard about on talk radio), Obama should be equally assailed for this.

I don't think there is anything wrong whatsoever with bowing, which is a traditional form of greeting in some parts of the world. I certainly don't think it constitutes recognizing the supremacy of the Saudi king. Sure it's a sign of respect, but is that a bad thing?

Oh, and George W. also lowered his head to the same king: http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/33289_Bush_Bowed_Too

And I thought it was wrong of Bush to do that too. Bush also walked around holding hands with the guy, which was awful. These are the people that funded the terrorists that flew into the World Trade Center, and the most powerful men in the world bow to them.

It's awful.

He did it. That's all I'm saying. The white house can't deny that he did it. That's called lying. So they are liars.

It is interesting how things are "spun" when it's their guy in office.
