On Torture
I believe it works. That's why it's existed for thousands of years. If people didn't give up information that was useful in these sessions, it would have disappeared a long time ago.
I don't believe the US should participate in it. And I'm not convinced water boarding is torture. I'm not convinced it isn't, either. I remain unconvinced either way.
Do I believe that the information obtained from the detainees at Gitmo has saved lives? Yes. Unequivocally.
Because I believe that, and because if put in the situation where the information obtained saved the life of someone I love, I can not be angry about it. And I think the political witch hunting that is going on is going to have lasting effects. And Obama better be careful, because turn about is fair play. And his tenure here won't be without mistakes.

All is not lost, world domination could still be yours.
And Mexico has better beaches than we do, so they would be on the list too. Then the imperial progression would continue southward until all of South America was unified into the USA. Following that conquest my minions would take the dotted line (on the Risk board) from Brazil to the N. Africa (Kamchatka better watch out too, from my Alaskan military bases, perhaps Palin could lead that offensive) and then the whole other side of the world would need to watch out as I ushered in a new era of democracy and love.
As for torture. I'm probably too "weak" to use the procedures. But for some reason I don't think that I get information from the prisoner by saying please (or even "pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry"). Tough choices for people who have the ability to live in a moral gray area, not so much for me.
