Dallas Tea Party!
I went. I saw. I had a great time.
I took pictures of some really great signs and listened to some great speakers and met some people that were like-minded. And lately, I have to say I've felt like I might just be the only one out here thinking the way that I do.
Lewis went with me, because my husband is nothing if not supportive. He doesn't agree with everything, but he does agree that the spending is out of control and that the burdens we are placing on the next generation are irresponsible. How can people really be so short-sighted?
No one was mean. No one yelled anything vile. Though I did hear some chatter about succeeding from the union (groan) which is just nonesense, Texas Patriotism coming through. Which is cool in small doses but it hurts the cause over all. And with the close of the Civil War, it's illegal. No matter what Governor Rick - I'm scared of Kay Bailey Hutchingson - Perry says. Like Lone Star Times says, with his governor's seat in question he's sounding down right Conservative lately. Which is odd, considering he tried to force Gardasil down Texan's throats not to long ago.
Speaking on Houston ... check this out for their tea party. Over 8,000 attendees! Dallas had somewhere between 3-5,000. Not sure. Fort Worth estimates are at 4,500. For pictures and more info check HERE. There were 800-1,000 parties across the nation, some with more than 10,000 participants. This isn't a flash in the pan. It's not going away. There are a lot of people in this country that think this out of control spending has got to stop.
And for the record. I'm a tax paying citizen of this country. And I love my roads. I love the fire department. I love the projects that all of my tax money provides. I do not love throwing good money after bad. I do not love interferring with free markets. I do not love GM being operated by the government. And for those reasons, I wanted to "throw some tea." Metaphorically.
I'll post a link to pictures when I get home. But it really was great. I love my state. I love my town. There is no better state in this union than Texas. Just ask us. :) There are people out there that think like me. Now all we need to do is get some legislatures in there that will represent that opinion too.
