Posted because of China, and $2.50 an hour
LoneStarTimes has a post up about the Body Works exhibit that's in Houston now.
While in Boston back in 2006, Lewis and I went to the natural history museum and saw this exhibit, or at least a version of it. I have to say we rushed through it. I thought I had posted something about that trip here but I can't find it. Oh well.
Anyway, what I remember speicifically is the pregnant women and the fetuses. After that I tugged on husbands arm and said "get me out of here!" I couldn't handle it. I couldn't get past the fact that I was looking at what were once real people that were now creepishly on display.
I don't really think anything untoward is going on like some of the posted links at LST suggest. But I do understand the revolusion at the exhibit. I'm not suggesting a boycott, but I don't think I'll recommend it to anyone other than medical students.
P.S. I posted this because - achem - look they pay them $2.50 an hour in China! Not 40 cents!
I'm teasing. Please don't beat me up. :)
