If you lay with dogs ...
You get flees.
Do I think that Obama had anything to do with Blagojevich selling his old Senate seat? No. Do I think he knew it was going on? Maybe. Do I think he was surprised to find this out? Nope. Not in the slightest. You don't wake up one day and suddenly become as crooked as Blagojevich. He's had pay for play schemes for years, and felt that he was entitled to the money the Senate seat would bring him, as we've all heard by now.
And Obama is not an idiot. You don't rise as quickly as he's risen without understanding the world as it exists around you. Whether not he was tainted by that world is up to someone else to decide. But Bill Richardson, the guy that is going to be our Secretary of Commerce, is now under federal investigation for money that was given to a California company after they made a sizeable donation to him.
Sigh. And people will look the other way. Neither side can claim to be the party of virtue and morality, but Obama did run on change.
I read somewhere that the information the feds have gotten on Blagojevich is partly coming from Tony Rezko as he tries to negotiate a lighter sentence. These are all people that Obama has associated with in the past, and at one point or another even called them friends.
I think he will wash clear of this because he doesn't appear to have done anything wrong. Which is good. I'd much prefer to think that our new President managed to stay above the fray in one of the most corrupt cities in the country.

The grand jury in Albuquerque is looking into Beverly Hills, California-based CDR Financial Products Inc., which received almost $1.5 million in fees from the New Mexico Finance Authority in 2004 after donating $100,000 to Richardson’s efforts to register Hispanic and American Indian voters and pay for expenses at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, people familiar with the matter said.
