Money Musings
Or rather, it's Amy's Humble Musings. And it was recommended to me by my intrepid and creative sister-in-law from Indiana. Not only do I love the layout and the pretties on the site, but her series on "How we did it" is somewhat ... well ... I can't think of the word.
I'm somewhat jealous, and my knee jerk reaction is "hey we aren't doing so bad!" We don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars and we don't own our own home yet ... but other than that we don't have debt. Are there things we could learn? Um, yeah. A lot. Are we the dumbest folks on the block? No.
But it's a good story about frugality and needs versus wants and making the tough choices. It's worth a read. Especially during these times.
She makes comments about buying video games and stereo systems ... which I know the folks she's talking about and I know she's not being snide or anything ... I just ... well it makes me want to tell our story. Which is just silly because it's like keeping up with the reverse Joneses or something. We did what we had to do and maybe we didn't always make the best decision but we pay our bills, we eat, we have a roof.
Every decision we've made wouldn't be approved by ... well probably anyone. But you do what you have to do and you move on. You make decisions based on what you and your family can live with and that's all you can do.
But it's a great blog. Dear brother-in-law ... you should check it out. I think you'd like it a lot.
