Get Your Guns Up!

Okay, tomorrow we have OSU at home.  #2 versus #9.  Okie's versus Texans.  Cool versus the uncool.  :)  Okay teasing.
In all seriousness OSU is one of my favorite campuses.  One of my favorite college memories was one night at a party on a Friday ... we were all sitting around talking about what we were going to do the following day, Saturday.  It was probably about midnight.  Maybe eleven if I'm being generous.  And 5 of us got it into our head that we should make the drive to Oklahoma (Stillwater) for the OSU v Tech game.  :)  We hopped in the car, made the really long drive, and watched the Red Raiders kick serious tail.
So fun.
They have this really great horse.  It's more like a quarter pony.  And after every point scored the announcer gets on over the loudspeaker and says "Annnnnndd Heeeeerrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeee's BULLET!"  And then a gun shot fires and the horse takes off running down the sidelines.  So awesome.
Anyway.  This weekend in Tech, there's no bullet, and there's no friendly bantor coming out of me.  I'm in it to win the crap out of this game, and I can NOT wait to see Corso's face after we do.

Granted, there is a chance we could lose.  OSU is playing very good this year.  And it's late in the season, we're ranked higher than them, if they beat us and OU they stand a chance of making the Big 12 championship (only if UT loses though - if the tie UT, UT goes to that game).  They could also play spoiler to our season.  There is nothing the Big 12 South likes more than to play spoiler to another teams season (see also, Tech beating OU last year).

But we stand a very good shot.  OSU's pass defense is horrible, and we all know what Graham can do when he gets a ball in his hands.  Our offensive line is rock solid, and their defense is no where near the caliber of what Texas's was.  If they give him a solid 5 - 8 seconds in the pocket we'll score 60 points.

Problem though ... our defense and their running offense.  Their run is good, and our defense has been shaky.  If the boys that played against Texas show up ... we'll take this thing lock stock and barrell.  But they can't get cocky, they have to stay focused, and they have to show up to play.

I don't usually pray for sporting events, because I truly 100% believe that God has more important things to worry about ... but oh what this would mean for my school!  This would give us a very good shot at - the very least - an 11-1 season.  A one loss season!  And with only 1 loss to OU, depending on what happens to them this week ... we stand a weak chance of still making the big 12 title game.  OU would have to lose this week, or be ranked beneath us in the final rankings, in which case a 3 way tie between OU, UT, and Tech would go to us, as the highest ranked team in the Big 12.  Which could happen ... if the Aggies suddenly decide to play football again and win a game.  But I don't see that happening.

No, to get out of the Big 12 South as Texas Tech you have to go undefeated.  It's that freaking competitive right now.

Good news though ... if we do get out of the Big 12 South ... we crush a weak North team in Missouri at the Big 12 title game, and crush the crap out of Penn State in the biggest whoopin' the world has ever seen.  (I seriously - no seriously - have no respect for the Big 10.  No championship? Really?).

And frankly, with strength of schedule this year, and with how badly the SEC looks, I'm seriously thinking we could take on Alabama.  Now Florida makes me slightly more nervous.  But honestly, I have so much confidence in the Big 12 south right now I really feel like if we can get out of this thing alive (if, if, if) we will wipe the floor with everyone else.

If we win out.  If we don't get tired.  If we don't get injured.

So many "ifs!"  Thank goodness tomorrow is Saturday!  Wreck 'Em Tech!
