Run of Mouth
Mine that is.
So there's this Candidate Match Game at USA Today that's sort of interesting. It's probably been there a while but I don't ever visit USA Today so I had not seen it. Here is an example of two choices:
Do you really wonder which side the paper is pulling for? Go see for yourself. Where the candidates differ, according to USAToday, is on Iraq, Diplomacy, Taxes, Health Care, and Social Security. Anyway. One of the statements is on rolling back the gas tax so people can "deal with rising gas prices."
I love how the falling price of gas is a non-story. It's not going to be next year though. With the economic slow down all over the globe, OPEC is cutting production and gas has fallen to somewhere around $74 a barrell this morning. It was at $71 a barrell on Friday.
Gas at the pump is about a $1 cheaper on average than it was a month ago. Experts are saying that gas could fall below $50 a barrell, putting gas at the pump somewhere near $2, if not under.
Now here's where it will get interesting ...
I heard on CNBC that if gas continues to fall this way, it will equal a big tax cut. That will be something the government (specifically states) will have to look at next year as their treasuries are lower but their roads still need the same amount of work.
Palin was on SNL and I watched the clips. I laughed a few times. I mostly thought she was brave to even stand next to those folks. I didn't see her on camera with Tina Fey but you know they passed each other in the hall or something. It would be hard for me to stand next to someone I knew hated me so much.
John Stewart started talking about how much he hated her for her divisivness, but really, he's the one that's angry that someone is disagreeing with him. He just can't stand that she says what she says. It wouldn't matter if she had been governor for 2 years or 20. He still would hate her.
One last word on Colin Powell ... he did what he did because socially, he's a liberal. He is still calling himself a Republican, but I don't see how he can do that in good conscience, especially with what he's endorsing for our military.
And while right now the media and Obama fans are having a little love fest over Powell ... just look at things like this from the Daily Kos to remind you of the evil things they used to say about him.

"Iraq: US Military forces should be withdrawn"
"Iraq: The United States needs to keep a military prescence in Iraq for decades"
