Red Raider Update
So we got by Nebraska yesterday. Barely. Our defense looked terrible. They better step it up next week. Even thought it's A&M and they are even more terrible than Nebraska. But still. It's a rivalry game and it's in College Station. Our defense better step it up.
Leach still makes terrible coaching decisions. 4th and 4 he decides to try and draw them off-sides, except they don't fall for it, and Harrell has to make a play. Thankfully, Harrell and Crabtree (our star wide reciever) are awesome because Crabtree called for the ball, Harrell threw it twenty some odd yards and we got the first down.
At the end of the game, reporters asked Leach about the 4th and 4 call and he made up some crap about no guts no glory. They asked the same question to Harrell and he said, "well he only called us to draw them off sides, he didn't want us to snap it." Which they had to, because they didn't go off sides. It was funny to hear Harrell be so honest about it where Leach was trying to cover his stupid play call.
The week before he called a pass play on a 4th and 1 and we lost the ball. All because he doesn't like running the ball and the quarterback sneek.
It's ridiculous.
Anyway, so in other football news that effects us ... UT won the Red River shoot out against OU. Which is awesome for us because that's probably OU's only loss of the season and we need some teams to go 5-1 before us. For our standings in the Big 12 South. Missouri lost to Oklahoma State, so they (OSU) are now 6-0 (like us). Texas is now ranked #1, followed by Alabama at #2 (both 6-0), Penn State #3, Oklahoma #4, Florida #5, USC #6, and then Texas Tech at #7. But Oklahoma State is #8, and that makes 4 of the top ten teams are from the Big 12 (Missouri fell to #11). There are a lot of teams i nthe top 10 that are 6-0. If we can go 7-0 and defeat A&M ... well, that would just be awesome.
We played Kansas after that. They are #16 right now. And they don't really scare me except that I'm talking about Tech here. And we always - always - drop games to a team we shouldn't lose to. But here's hoping. We haven't gone 8-0 since I've been at Tech. Whew. I hope I didn't just jinx us!
