California: Me too!
California Governor Schwarzenegger told Treasury Secretary Paulson (aka: Santa Clause) that his state may need a $7B loan to cover shortfalls in their budget.
Dallas ISD has a budget shortfall. Of $84M. They are laying off 1,100 employees. 550 which are teaching jobs. People are ticked and that really puts it mildly. Now, from what I heard on the radio, a large portion of those 550 teaching jobs are early retirements. I have less of an issue with those. I believe they have pensions.
And yes - I'm aware they are not big pensions. But um - hello - as a person that has to save every penny of my own retirement, I think any pension is a good one.
But this California begging this is ridiculous. Make your own state better, Cali! If people weren't moving away in droves (mostly cause they can't afford it) you wouldn't be in the shape you're in. And if you don't have the budget ... why not cut some things.
