Okay please note that the whole reason I have a blog is to react to stuff that I read. So I found this during a google search (who knows how I get to places, follow a link, and another link, and another link and then I forget where I started!) and I want to respond to what I'm reading.
Here we disagree. I think this episode shows how scared the media and the Democrats are of a motivated, conservative base. Even the Congressional elections are feeling pinched lately with gas prices and drilling and now Palin adding a much needed spark to a grass roots that was bordering on flatlining. If they can't deal rationally with something, it's they can't deal rationally with conservative women.
There's a big difference between raising property taxes and sales taxes, just ask anyone that lives in Texas. Our property taxes are through the ever raising roof, and sales tax is at 8%. The key difference between sales tax and property tax, is sales tax is a voluntary, by item tax. Property tax is on something that you have to have to survive (shelter) and is far more burdensome to the pocketbook. And, it raises every year because idiot counties think housing values go up every year by 5%. Or 7.5% in my county. And this year proves thats simply not the case. My housing value has dropped probably $5,000 since last year (this is an estimate) but have my property taxes receded? No. They've gone up.
And on the earmarks for Alaska ... Alaska has a population of what ... 10 (and apparently they are lowering propery taxes, that's less revenue for schools)? And they have to ship in most of their commodities (like Hawaii). They've been on the government dole for years. You know that $1,000 incentive that all Alaskans get for being citizens? Yeah that's federal money. My point is ... this isn't really news. It's been going on for years.
Lady ... look at Obama's experience with foreign affairs. Then tell me if you're horrified. If you're not, well than you're an obvious hypocrite. The Obama camp picked smarmy Biden because he's been on the foreign intelligence committee for eons to fill Obama's gap in the experience category. McCain didn't have such a gap, as he has foreign policy experience, so he didn't need to pick a foreign policy expert as a VP. Might I remind you, that Bill Clinton didn't have any foreign policy experience either.
The rest of the article is good and I have no issues with it. Talks about sexism and media coverage.
My thought: it's not because she's a girl. She's scary because she's revved everyone up. They would have to beat anyone down that revved everyone up this much. I wish we could have two universes going. One with Palin, and one with Bobby Jindal. I'd like to see what they made of him.

But Palin has people cheering that she cut taxes in Wasilla — when she also raised them. (Property taxes were cut; sales taxes raised.) She brags about fighting federal pork, and people lap it up like kittens at a saucer of cream, yet Alaska, under her governorship, was 10 times greedier for earmarks than any other state.
