Obama's Response
If you need me call me????
Really?
Come on guys. He's a freaking member of the Senate of the United States of America, if his vote on this bill doesn't matter ... than who's does?
And I don't believe for one second that he's been talking to Pelosi every day. Or anyone in the Senate for that matter. I do not believe it.
*********Updated***********
So Reid says that McCain doesn't need to come back. And I rescind my earlier hysteria about Obama's I've told them if they need me there they can call me crap. Because ... well frankly neither one of these two have been voting on important legislation for like ... months. In some cases, years.
Makes you wonder how important legislation is, huh?
But my other thing ... I think Obama's out and out lying. I think McCain beat him to the punch and then Obama comes out and says, "oh that was my idea. We were working on a joint statement, but then I turned on my TV and McCain was already on the news."
I think he's lying. I think it was McCain's idea and Obama was somewhere in a backroom swearing at his staff. Otherwise ... why would Obama's campaign adviser tell the press that "Uh, the debate is still on," and nothing else. I'm telling you, that if this was already in the works, his advisors would have been telling the press that ... "We were already doing this, McCain tricked us," or something like that.
But they didn't say that. Obama took a half hour (a long time in the Drudge internet age) to come up with a plan.
And then I'm listening to Sean Hannity. Lieberman is on there talking about how the people want them to postpone the debates so that they can solve the crisis.
No. No. No.
First ... they can't solve the crisis. They can't.
And second ... I want to see the debate during this. I want to. I want to hear what they think they would do. On live TV. Not with a teleprompter.
Here's what I want ...
1. GSE regulation legislation
2. Paulson FIRED. FIRED. FIRED.
3. Appoint a 9/11 type commission. Figure it out. Study guys. Study before you throw my money at it.
4. I want the democrats to admit - ADMIT - that they were opposed to regulation over GSE's and housing markets. I want them to ADMIT it. Because it's TRUE. And now they are saying that it was the Republicans. NO NO NO. The White House sent regulation bills over 17 times last year. Never made it out of committee. And even the bill that was proposed in 2005 under the Republican leadership, it never made it to the floor because the Dems blocked it.
And Barney Frank, stupid idiot that wants absolutely not fingers pointed at him, in 2003 told the NYT that Fannie and Freddie were completely fine and that any regulation would limit affordable housing.
Look at it, Representative, and see your career coming to a close.
I'm so angry by this stuff. So, so, so angry. On one hand, I hate chicken littles.
And you know what this reminds me of? The kid that broke the lamp. He's feverishly gluing pieces back together before his parents get home because he thinks he can fix it. "I can fix it, I can fix it!" he says, because he's hoping he wont get in trouble. He knew he shouldn't have been throwing that baseball in the house ...
Translation:
Kid: CONGRESS
Lamp: Credit Crisis
Baseball: their lazy, no good legislation (or lack there of) that got us into this mess
Parents: the American people. Who are out a lamp.

We're not talking about voting on legislation yet. We're talking about negotiating the nuts and bolts of the bill. If either Obama or McCain are directly involved in that process, the Congress members from the other side might be less motivated to reach a settlement because they won't want to make the opponent's candidate look good. For the sake of getting something done, they should both stay away from the negotiations.
