Lou Dobbs, Access, and Teleprompters
So yesterday after I finished my yard work and was getting ready to go see the Cowboys kick some Philly butt (we intensely dislike the Eagles - it's a division game), I was watching CNN for some wierd, inexplicable reason. I think it was because when I surfed through that channel, Lou Dobbs was yelling at the overweight brown haired woman who does political reporting about not asking tough questions of the candidates. Of either candidate.
And she just kind of looked a little perplexed.
So Dobbs starts railling about how these candidates aren't meeting with the press and aren't answering questions. They are strictly reading speeches, getting in their cars, tucking tail and going home.
Mostly because, anything that is unscripted could end up as fodder for the other side, as we've learned with lipstick gate.
So when we get a Presidential candidate that's standoffish with the press, doesn't answer questions beyond those vetted before hand, we should all blame ourselves.
Because we let that happen. Because we let crap like this happen and we didn't think twice about it.
I am fundamentally tired of people that can not think on their feet. I'm fundamentally tired of people that don't want to answer a question until the latest polling data is back. I'm sick of being more concerned about offending immigrants, women, children, aliens, what have you. What's so wrong with people being offended? I get offended. It happens. You shake hands and you move on. You GROW UP and realize that you are not going to get along with everyone, you aren't going to like everyone, and everyone is not going to agree with you. But you live by you're own compass and you do what you think is right.
I think there are two sets of people voting in this election: people that care a lot about what other people think and people that just don't give a damn. People that want the government to help people and people that want people to help people. People that think emotions and feelings should rule and people that think 1 + 1 = 2 no matter how you feel about it.
Both sides are right about different things, and no side is better than the other.
