Ike! Leave my family alone!
Ike seems to want to terrorize me and my family. It can't leave any stone uncovered! Not only did he wreak havoc on Houston and my family there, but he traveled north near Dallas and tried to bluster us here. Then, he went east and north to my relatives in Kansas (though they did not get much, most of their rain came from the north west), and finally, he hit up Ohio.
So my sister, brother, and future brother-in-law are part of the 200,000 folks in Dayton who are without power. Seems the winds up there were just as strong as they were down here.
Now, what's really interesting, is even as Dayton is declaring a state of emergency, their electricians are all down in Houston, getting power back up down there. Because they are in Houston, and not in Dayton, my sister will be without power till Friday.
Meanwhile, my brother and sister-in-law in Houston had power back up on Saturday.
Interesting. No judgement on my part ... because my in-laws in Houston and my neices and nephews there are every bit as important to me as my sister and brother(s). I just find it interesting.
Point of fact, when the hurricane came through Washington, D.C. in 2003 and Lewis lived in Bowie. He was without power for I think 7 days. Why? Because the electrical crews were in New York restarting everyone after the brown out.
The world needs more electricians!
