Republicans in Washington D.C. are debating on the floor even though Nancy Pelosi closed the session for the 5 week recess. It's a stunt, by the Reps, but it's still sooooo AWESOME!
They don't have lights! Or microphones! And CSPAN isn't covering it! Bloggers are getting information via House Reps that are on Twitter! Can you believe it!
Oh my gosh if I were still there ... I'd have front row seats to some really, really awesome stuff. Supposedly, tourists in the galleries were shouting down to the members "Vote! Vote!" on energy legislation before the break. But our favorite Speaker had said there would be absolutely no vote on anything that concerned new energy legislation.
There aren't (or weren't) a lot of people there, but there are some! It's just so exciting ... I remember the filibuster on judges and then Senate Majority Leader Frist saying "let them talk all night" and they wheeled out cots for everyone to sleep on for the staffers. It was soooo amazing.
Sigh ... I miss DC. I love Texas and our friends here ... but I love that town. I've always loved that town. What American doesn't love D.C.? And my parents are there now. SOB. For a wedding, but still.
