The Tactics of Fear

Democrat Barack Obama, the first black candidate with a shot at winning the White House, says John McCain and his Republican allies will try to scare them by saying Obama "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

Stumping in an economically challenged battleground state, Obama argued Wednesday that President Bush and McCain will resort to scare tactics to maintain their hold on the White House because they have little else to offer voters.

"Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me," Obama said. "You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills." [Full Story from My Way]

First off - he's now predicting what McCain and others will do before it's been done? That's kind of cart before the horse and kind of slanderous. Seems to me he's accusing them of racism before they've done or said anything racist. That's sooooo not right.

From where I sit, the only person bringing up how he doesn't look like the other guys, is Obama himself. He mentions it on his website [hattip: Michelle Malkin], he mentioned it in Germany ("I know that I don't look like the other Americans who've previously spoken in this great city."), and he apparently mentioned it Missouri today on the campaign trail (above).

So you have to ask yourself, why is he constantly reminding people that he is different? Is it part of that change thing? And who is trying to make people afraid of him because he looks different? Again from where I sit, and from what I read and listen to, people are afraid of him because of his plans of high taxation and his ridiculously inadequate experience.

Those are reason enough to be afraid of him ... not because he doesn't wear a top hat and have wooden teeth.
