President Bush's News Conference
I wish he had spent more time on the economy questions. I realize he is not all knowing or even a great economical mind. But I'm looking for a little comfort in a really scary time ... and he's not really providing it.
The reporters aren't helping, one asked about McClellan (can you say -- old news?) and the rest are asking about Iraq.
I want to know about oil and the economy and the banks. 80% of the time should have been spent on those and not on the Iraq. They do keep asking about stimulus packages. Another one.
Grrreeaatt.
Someone just asked why Bush isn't asking people to drive less or turn down the thermostat.
Because he's not a dictator and he can't tell me what to do, that's why. And he's absolutely right, "people can balance their own check books." Yes they can. Jimmy Carter tried to do that in the late 70s. It didn't go so well for him. He wore a sweater, told people to use less heat, and they laughed at him.
Meanwhile, I'm watching the bank lists to see whos on them. Our mortgage holder seems to be okay, but what happens to me if they go under? The bank hearing just started on the Hill.
Hold on to your stomach's, because if you're in the market, it's going to be a hard week.
