Balloon Festival

Lewis and I drove down to Longview Texas for the Great Texas Balloon Race.  We got there just in time to see the glow, and stayed while they were taking things down.  Our friends, one of whom works for Dr. Pepper, were sponsors.  So we got to go to the sponsor tent and hang out.

The next morning (Saturday) was the balloon race.  For those of you that don't know, ballooning is an early morning sport.  Before sunrise.  So we jumped up (HA!) took showers and rushed to the launch site, only to see the trucks with the baskets driving away from the launch site.  Not good.

Turns out, the winds were far too high.  So it was too dangerous to take off.  A hazard of ballooning.  At any rate, I got some good photos of the glow at least!  And there's some pretty country out east!
