So Excited!

Okay ... I'm a terrible person today. I knoooooow.

But I can't possibly keep this in!

As I've written about in the past (here, here, here, here) we are going to Germany on August 31st of this year, returning on September 6th. And ... I can hardly type for excitement ... while it's not a long trip by any stretch of the imagination, we will spend Monday and Tuesday with Alan and Tina in Germany, and then Wednesday we will take the train from Landstuhl to Paris! We will take the train back from Paris on Friday, arriving around 9:00PM.

I am so excited I don't know what I am going to do for the next three months.

I, like many other young American girls I'm sure, have fantasized about Notre Dame for ever. And now, it's within my fingers! I will be there, tour there, take pictures there, breath the air there. I know, I'm ridiculous. And for a person that really doesn't care for French foreign policy, I'm decidedly obsessed with their landmarks and country.

No one ever accused me of being rational.

Sigh. This has been the most important trip I've ever planned, not only because I get to go (yes!) but because of what it represents. A goal! A goal I set and made happen. And while it seems very stupid and simple (how hard is it to buy airfare and go? people do it all the time), it just means so much to me! So often people have dreams and goals and plans that fall through or they don't plan for and it just never happens. I was so worried that that would happen to my goal of going to Europe before we had children.

And I have to say we ... because without Lewis's 100% support of this goal of mine, it would never have happened.

I'm really terribly excited. I'm sure I'll be a bumbling idiot in Europe, but surely in 3 months I can educate myself a little bit on trains and maps and such. Stupider people than me have traveled before ... right?

I will worry this to death. But I'm just so excited!

Notre Dame is ok, but make sure you go to Sacre Coeur as well. It's gorgeous up there! (And the stairs will help you work off all the fabulous eating and drinking you'll be doing!)
