Three Things To Watch
Hamas fired on Ashkelon, Israel over the weekend. Of course the Israeli's say the rockets were Iranian.
The US launched an airstrike in Somalia today. They were targeting an Al Qaeda leader that is trying to reestablish control over the region. This would be a result of overthrowing the Islamist dictatorship in 1991. Those targeted today are said to be responsible for the embassy attacks.
And the big news to watch (aside from Hillary's coming meltdown) ... Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Colombia was responsible for killing a Columbian rebel leader inside of Ecuador. Sort of like the US did Somalia, Colombia bombed inside of Ecuador. Ecuador is saying that Columbia violated their sovereignty and has recieved support from Venezuela. President Chavez (Ven.) has mobilized his military and sent it to the border of Ven. and Colombia.
And everyone keeps printing this line ... "threatened to counterattack with Russian-made jets..."
It's as if the press want to remind us that Putin and Chavez are buddies. And Chavez claims that Colombia is the lap dog of the US, and the UK DailyMail is saying the US could come in on the side of the Colombian's, whom we support in their fight agains the cocain trade. Added to that ... we hate Chavez.
I just remember something from my history classes in grade school, some teacher told me that WWI was started based on treaties and alliances. Germany and Austria on one side, everyone else on the other. Today we have Iran, Russia, North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela. And the rest of the fragmented world. With China not overly friendly with anyone, but heavily leaning towards dictators.
I wonder what the peace sign people will say of this. If Bush / Congress make no move to act and help Colombia, will they call us cowardly and unsupportive?
The best option is that Chavez is just blowing hot air and will not act. All stories to watch ... but how many wars have started over assasinations / murders? Wasn't WWI started when Franz Ferdinand (and yes I had to look up his name) was murdered?
