Taking a Poll
I was pointed to a DIY contest at Design Sponge a few weeks ago. There's lots of amazing arts and crafts going on over there that I would never in a million years have the time or artistry to do.One such piece, was this baby crib. Pictured at left is a screen shot. Now, this baby crib was incredibly controversal. And I honestly have to say, when I first saw it my first thought was (well I had 2 first thoughts) I love the floral design and bending over to pick the 15 pound tot up every 3 hours would be murder on one's back.
Now, the parents that viewed the crib had a completely different take (view the comments section). The slats (oh the slats!) were way too far apart and the crib did not / does not meet safety guidelines. Many people said that with this new information, the picture of the crib should be removed from the site. Liability is a scary thing, and should some moron decide to recreate it, something horrible happened, and someone sued?
Anyway, the whole episode was good for one reason: I learned there are child safety guidelines for cribs. Which makes perfect sense now that I think about it, but I never had considered it before. On your right you'll see a poll. Should the crib have won 3rd place in this competition? Or, since the safety hazard was so prevelant, should it have been removed from the running?
