Extreme-MakeOver: Home Edition!

So last night I watched the DVR'd EMHE from Sunday. It was an awesome episode! National Guardsman Spec. Michael Lucas owned property near Farmville, VA. The family dream was to build a house on the acreage, and ya know ... live. Well he got called to Iraq and the project wasn't finished. His wife and 2 sons rented a home nearby.

Well enter ABC! They negotiated with the army, got him brought home and sent on vacation to Disneyworld. They built his dream house on his land, in an awesome way. It was true to the history of the area, true to the dream that the couple had ... it was just an awesome looking house.

And ... best part. They flew the family home early ... to meet Toby Keith! And what did Toby Keith do? Well, apart from shaking the guys hand and just making his freaking lifetime, he gave him a truck.

Spec. Lucas said it best ... "the best thing about that is, I can say 'Toby Keith gave me that truck."

Ho - Rah!

Toby performed "American Soldier" for the reservists in the area, and it was just so awesome. Such a good episode. Sometimes you don't always feel like the people they are helping are oh so deserving. You know? I mean you believe they hit hard times, but like they don't say what happened to the other parent, or what they do for a living, and you're just left to wonder if the house will be maintained or if it will fall apart.

But this house ... :) Couldn't have gone to a more deserving sort.

Cheer for happiness!
