Why I Voted for Barack Obama
Many, I'd say most, of our men and women in uniform don't see it that way. And, if you're voting based on their needs ... why don't your votes match? I'd wager that a large percentage of the American military will vote Republican, for John McCain. Furthermore, Obama will not completely withdrawal from Iraq. He will remove what is seemly, and he will do what Bill Clinton did ... continue allowing tours to Iraq that the MSM doesn't pick up. People will still get shot at, only worse then, because they won't be allowed to engage the enemy.
Obama will not do anything to stop crazy people from doing crazy things. And banning guns is against the constitution. And these crazy things have been happening for decades, with or without GW. I reference the tower gunman at UT. The riots in Illinois.
This he will fix. But for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. For every penny the government gives you for health care, another American has to provide that penny. If you qualify for "free" health care, there is another American that doesn't, that has to pay not only his premiums, but also yours.
He will do nothing to fix this. And I'm not sure how he's going to support new mothers after child birth? Is it the governments job to support new mother's after child birth? And is the government meant to support postpartum depression? What do you want them to do? And why should the government pay for maternity leave? Short term disability insurance is less than $10 a month, and would cover a leave of absence from work. But I guess the point here is that we want the government to pay for it, not ourselves. Again, for every action, there is a reaction. For every program the government promises to pay you with, there is an American somewhere with higher taxes and less money to spend for food for their own family.
Yup. True and true. This is the education system as the government has created it. Don't forget that Obama is from the Senate. Had he any great plans to fix this, he could have introduced legistlation to do just that. But he didn't. The teacher situation is what I fear will happen to doctors if the government takes over our health care.
Obama's plan calls for increasing ethanol production. Do you know why milk prices have gone up? Because of drummed up demand for ethanol / corn. Everything we eat needs corn. So milk, meat, eggs, everything ... with increased demand for ethanol, everything else will go up.
He also talks about UNFCCC ... which if memory serves, were the brilliant minds behind Kyoto. Even Bill Clinton would not sign Kyoto. Will Obama?
Also ... please know that Global Warming and Climate Change is about wealth redistribution. It's about Russia making money on carbon credits. It's about the United States slowing down her economy so that other countries can catch up and we lose our super power status. It's about money. Just ask Al Gore how much he has made on publicity alone. And he refuses to debate anyone that disagrees with him on this issue.
I recycle. I'm for new forms of energy. We need innovation or else we stop. But I will not sacrifice human life or American prosperity on the whims of those that hate themselves and have no pride in their nation.

Let me say that I have no dog in this race. John McCain is no conservative that speaks for me. And things that matter to me are taxes, military, terrorism and the Constitution. All of those things Obama does not and will not stand for. He will raise my taxes, he will weaken the American Military, he will do nothing to combat terrorism in any real, "non-policing" way. And he will have the opportunity to appoint at least 3 judges to the Supreme Court.
The last one is the only one that should scare us.
I will have a lot of pride in our nation for electing the first black President, just as I had a lot of pride when Nancy Pelosi was named Speaker of the House. Hearing the President say "Madame Speaker," at the State of the Union was awesome. I don't agree with their politics, but I can be happy for them.
Because our nation was created to withstand Presidents, and made for them to come and go. Checks and balances keep our country strong. I will turn out and vote this year, but it's with a heavy heart knowing full well that people have a hand out, and want that hand filled. The drum beat of change seems to changing more towards socialism than it is to Capitolism and Democracy. And that makes me sad.
One good note: The Age of the American Monarchy, for the moment, appears to have stalled.
I'm sick of reading about another member of our military dying in Iraq. These men and women have given their lives, but for whom? For me? Or for the people of Iraq? It isn't about fighting terrorism anymore. It's about feeding the ego of the Big Guy in the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Many, I'd say most, of our men and women in uniform don't see it that way. And, if you're voting based on their needs ... why don't your votes match? I tired of turning on the evening news to see college students crying and grieving, because another maniac with a gun has opened fired in a lecture hall. I'm angry at this government and the lobbyists and all the broken promises to pass stricter laws on gun control, while still allowing for the right to bear arms, which doesn't even seem plausible -- only to read that a crazy person in Missouri tried to assassinate his town's mayor and members of the local government. When will these tragedies end? When I have to wear a bullet-proof vest to leave the house each day? When I have to accompany my child to college because I'm afraid someone will steal his life?
Obama will not do anything to stop crazy people from doing crazy things. And banning guns is against the constitution. And these crazy things have been happening for decades, with or without GW. I reference the tower gunman at UT. The riots in Illinois.
I'm tired of paying overpriced health care premiums, only to find out the insurance doesn't cover this or that, or the deductible is astronomical, or that prescription is too expensive so I'll just have to go without it, because the same Big Guy in the White House won't allow me to mail order from Canada.
This he will fix. But for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. For every penny the government gives you for health care, another American has to provide that penny. If you qualify for "free" health care, there is another American that doesn't, that has to pay not only his premiums, but also yours.
I'm infuriated at how this country treats women and mothers. Women are paid less than men even if they perform the same jobs. New mothers have very little support after childbirth. Government paid maternity leave and support for postpartum depression rank lowest on our government's list of priorities. This government claims to care about our children, but they do nothing to prevent toxic toys from popping up on store shelves across the nation.
He will do nothing to fix this. And I'm not sure how he's going to support new mothers after child birth? Is it the governments job to support new mother's after child birth? And is the government meant to support postpartum depression? What do you want them to do? And why should the government pay for maternity leave? Again, for every action, there is a reaction. Then there's Education. American students rank lower than several other countries on standardized testing. Teachers are underpaid, and the good ones leave the profession because they can't make ends meet.
Yup. True and true. This is the education system as the government has created it. Don't forget that Obama is from the Senate. Had he any great plans to fix this, he could have introduced legistlation to do just that. But he didn't. The teacher situation is what I fear will happen to doctors if the government takes over our health care.
Our environment is dying a slow and painful death with every icecap that melts or animal species that becomes extinct. And this government expects us to smile olitely, bat our eyelashes and say, "Why, yes sir, you can certainly drill for oil in Alaska! We don't mind at all. We, the fat and lazy Americans suffering an obesity epidemic, would rather destroy the elk and moose populations than give up our beloved gas guzzling SUV's! Bicycle? What is this bicycle you speak of?"
