MSN Wants the Government To Spin Tax Rebate
MSN has another great editorial / column thing. It's about how different words invoke different reactions from participants / citizens.
In short ... MSN has discovered spin.
And the lead in to this story is that the Government should call the tax rebate a tax "bonus," because that will influence people to spend more.
Great. I love it when politicians / journalists encourage the bad behavior that got us into this mess to begin with.
The comments section tells it like it is:
"It's neither a rebate nor a bonus, it's merely an advance or a loan against next year's tax refund. It will have to be repaid. So, best advice, pay off debt or put it in the bank to send back to the IRS in 2009."
Exactly. If we were smart, we would be screaming down the place trying to get the stimulus plan stalled / stopped. But alas, many Americans are stupid. And all they see is a check in the mail, with no thought as to why it's there or more importantly, how and where it came from.
