We Will Move On ... Than What Will You Do?

The funny thing about strikes that go on for too long ... they end up having the reverse affect of what was intended. Ask the NHL or MLB. So my prediction for the writer's guild and producers? You're going to argue yourself both out of jobs.

People move on. We're fickle. If Gray's Anatomy isn't on ... we'll do something else. If Pushing Daisies isn't on ... I'll forget about it, as much as I loved it.

And as soon as I find something else to do, I'll start doing that something else more and more. Which means I'm less likely to tune in to their programming.

The Golden Globes was on yesterday. Or rather, wasn't on yesterday. Did you miss it? I didn't. I read the winners today and nod my head in appreciation and agree with myself on last time that I can go see Atonement. Dario Marianelli won for best score. I loooooove Darie Marianelli. He wrote the soundtrack for Pride and Prejudice. And it's absolutely delicious. I bet Atonement is just as good.

Anyway. Like hockey and perhaps more like baseball, the writers had good jobs and than they wanted more money. I don't argue with them, I think they are entitled. But if people stop watching TV both sides are going to lose. And really writers, how are you going to make more money on new media if you don't have a show / media to write for?

NHL ... do you remember when they didn't have a season? Nope. Just proved how many people did not watch hockey. Even though we all knew that already.

MLB ... remember that strike? Baseball's fan have just in recent years started coming back. It took them ten years to get their fans back. Ten years! In Hollywood, ten years is an eternity. And I really don't think they can survive a draught or a shortage of half that length.

Maybe something to think about folks ... like I said ... people are fickle ... we'll quit watching TV and then where will you be?
