Things Get Interesting

Senator Obama won by double digits (nearly 30%) in South Carolina, his perecentage total was 55%. And from what I've read, undecided voters decided within the 3 days leading up to the primary who they were going to vote for. And Bill Clinton's red faced raging pushed them towards Obama.

What do I love the most about this? People are looking at the aggressive campaigning of the Clinton's and nailing them on it. They are calling them out on race-baiting, lies, and over-all temper issues. It's gotten so bad, that Hillary has come out and said he's "sleep deprived," and that his love for her has him over reacting.

Gag me. Is this a race for the Presidency or are we nominating someone for Student Treasury?

Senator Kennedy is backing Obama. Not the once loved Clinton's. Toni Morrison, who so famously called Bill Clinton the first black president, is now supporting Obama. Caroline Kennedy has an op-ed in the Times calling Obama, "A President Like My Father." Yuck on that too. I thought we were for change! I don't need a President from the 60s. I need a President for the 21st century that's going to get us off foreign oil, with a balanced budget, protected sovereignty and better tax code.

Find me THAT candidate, please.

So as support for the co-Presidency dwindles, and we hear reports of the former President being told to quiet down, and Edward's hanging on like a a bad tooth ache ... well ... it's an interesting race to say the least.

Not the least because of the race and gender involved. I'm kind of irritated that the Clinton's so arrogantly injected the racialy / gender issue into the election. And I'm irritated with women in general who are so eager to put a Madame in front of President they would sacrifice everything they believe in just to have the event. The Presidency isn't just an event. It's an office that requires a person of certain qualifications. Hillary does not have more qualifications for that role simply because she is a woman, same as Obama does not have any more qualifications because he's black.

And dumbing down the electorate, claiming we're easily chattled cattle who side with whomever looks like us, well it just irritates me. And what irritates me even further, is that Hillary is not the first woman to run for this office. Elizabeth Dole ran 8 years ago, and none of this sisterly primary crap was going on. Granted, Dole did not have the buzz surrounding her that the Clinton's have been able to capitolize on.

So prediction: Obama wins half on Super Tuesday, Clinton takes a few old favorites as those that haven't been tuning in just turn on now, and they missed Bill blowing up. So they aren't affected by the ugly politics.

Unless ... and this would be delicious ... Bill can't shut up, and we get more and more sound bytes ala "Jesse Jackson carried South Carolina in 84 and 88."

What a pompous .... grrr.

Okay ... so the Republicans.

According to Rassmussen, Romney is now leading by 15. Guiliani will lose in Florida and bow out, I think. Leaving us with McCain and Romney as real front-runners.

Prediction: Obama and Edwards versus McCain and Lieberman.

It's like the Patriots playing the Colts in the SuperBowl*.

Sob.

(*The Patriots and the Colts both play in the AFC. In the two conference system, an AFC team plays an NFC team in the Superbowl. It would be impossible for those two teams to meet in the Superbowl.)
