TeacherTube
So my next door neighbors moved in next door (sheesh...) in September of this year. They are what the neighborhood refers to as "single." Which simply means ... they have no children. :)
They were immediately kindred spirits of Lewis and I. We invited them to our Christmas Party last weekend and we saw them again last night at the neighborhood Holiday party. More on that later.
But in taking with my neighbor, he told me about his "hobby."
He runs TeacherTube, with his brother, who is the superintendent for one of the local school districts. What is TeacherTube, you ask? Well it's YouTube, for teachers. Teachers and students upload videos of presentations, lesson plans, interesting skits, anything they think other teachers might be interested in. My friendly neighbors were telling me that the first weekend it was up, they had 400 users sign up. To date, they have over 40,000 members.
This past week, they were highlighted on Channel 8 here locally, and they were just written up in The New York Daily News.
"His brother," would be my neighbor! The entire article is worth a read. I also found a write up at Teacher Magazine that was original published in Education Week.
Anyway ... if you're a teacher, know a teacher, want to be a teacher ... check out the site. You'll be supporting my neighbors! And if there's something you want to comment on or add ... I've got the inside track!

TeacherTube was the vision of TeacherTube co-founder Jason Smith, who joined
forces with his wife and brother after feeling frustrated with other methods of
sharing media throughout his school in McKinney, Tex.
