Chit Chat
Party planning is not as easy as it looks. We went and bought groceries for the event and I'm still not even finished.
My menu:
Crabcakes (yum!)
Cheese log (I'd rather make this than buy one...)
Two salsas
Blackbean cakes and guacamole
Gingerbread cupcakes (with gingerbread men garnish)
Fruit and appropriate dips
Cheese and crackers
And a few other things that I'm not going to speak of, just yet. My plan is to cook as many items as will keep well, in the evenings. And the sweets (it's not a Christmas party without sweets!) So look forward to that!
I purchased a crock pot yesterday. I know, most people would think that a boring Saturday afternoon, but not me! I'm going to make beef stroganoff in it tomorrow!
In other news, ABC Family (one of my favorite channels) is having a Harry Potter weekend. We watched the first one on Friday. I'd forgotten how much I loved it. Rather than watch the second one with commercials, I have the DVD in right now. It's almost over, but I really loved this movie too. The lines (most) are practically verbatim from the novel. "Where have you been! Beds empty!" And on, and on ... love it.
When I watch the 3rd one, I will probably relive some of my disappointment. But the books got longer and more complex, and packing that into 2 hours of childrens entertainment is probably impossible. And Dumbledore ... oh Dumbeldore. He was perfect.
Oh well ... the 5th DVD comes out on the 11th. So I'll be getting that. :)
Just wanted to chitchat for a bit. Frisco is having wonderful Christmas events this year ... http://www.friscomerrymainstreet.com/. Last night they had their kick off. But Meryl and Lawerence got me interested ... and I knew they were doing something. The carriage rides are supposedly fun .. $2 a piece and you jaunt around the square.
Fun fun ... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
