Howard Dean: "Everyone goes to heaven."

Somehow I missed this:
“This country is not a theocracy,” Dean said, according to JTA. “There are
fundamental differences between the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party believes that everybody in this room ought to be
comfortable being an American Jew, not just an American; that there are no bars
to heaven for anybody; that we are not a one-religion nation; and that no child
or member of a football team ought to be able to cringe at the last line of a
prayer before going onto the field.”

Aside from the obvious that we're pandering during a speech given to "3,500 Jewish leaders at the opening plenary session of the annual General Assembly of the United Jewish Communities which the group calls “the largest annual gathering of Jewish leadership in the world.” Well, that aside, everyone gets into Heaven? Really?

If a Republican had so labeled people (I'm happy you're not just an American, you're an American Atheist.") there would be a little bit of mayhem. Dems are feverishly trying to court Christians (and Jews it seems) and really any religion so they don't go through what they think happened in 2004. Evangelicals turned out to vote against Gay Marriage, and stayed to vote GW back into office.

This should be the easiest election for the Dems in the history of the free world. The Rep front runners are weak. Guiliani has so much dirt under his nails he leaves smudge marks when he shakes hands. Romney has a religion hanging over his head that people associate with polygamy and child prostitution (or equivalent). Who else is running? A TV star turned Congressmen turned TV star turned Presidential Candidate. Who still can't get anyone motivated.

There are two factors at work this election. One, the right's dislike for Hillary Clinton and Co. and socalism. And then the Left's dislike for anything Bush related. These things are what's driving the races. Hillary will struggle and we'll see about that nomination. I still say she's the easiest for the Reps to beat. Maybe followed closely by Obama, who is a green eyed idiot. But the Reps don't have me moving for anyone. But I've kind of made a deal with myself that as the primaries come up I'll start paying attention.

What is it ... like 8 weeks and counting?

I'm still trying to get caught up on Pakistan. But something is not right ... and it signals bad things.
