A punch and a preach

Intruders seriously damage a renowned work by Monet at Paris' Orsay Museum

Why would someone do something so hurtful to something so beautiful? The China Daily lists the intruders as drunk. I must have skimmed over at that detail at the above ... but why would they hurt something so wonderful? Drudge has a picture of the hole on his site. I'd post to it but I don't know where he got it from.

And about Obama and his speech which included these lines:
"I think that's a healthy thing, that we're not putting people in boxes, that everybody is out there trying to figure out how do we live right and how do we create a stronger America," Obama said.

He finished his brief remarks by saying, "We're going to keep on praising together. I am confident that we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth."

First, he's pandering. And it makes me mad. He was speaking to a "multiracial evangelical congregation in traditionally conservative Greenville, South Carolina." What's an evangelical congregation? Is that Catholic? Baptist? Disciples of Christ? What is it?

CNN I want to know what church the good Senator was speaking at. Sheesh. In fact, CNN's story is even worse than I first anticipated. A google search reveals his full quote here:
“. . . I just want all of you to pray that I can be an instrument of God in the same way that Pastor Ron and all of you are instruments of God." He finished his brief remarks by saying, "We're going to keep on praising together. I am confident that we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth.”

Obama is on a grass roots campaign through South Carolina called, "40 Days of Faith and Family."

I think I'm going to be ill. And I think CNN edited to lessen the revolusion people would have at Obama using the Lord's name for political gain.

I wonder if he's going to talk about his votes in the Illinois State Legislature denying the fetuses of failed abortions emergency health care. That would be late term fetuses who end up being born with deformities or other problems but who are denied medical treatment because they are technically, an aborted fetus. They are not treated, and most die.

I doubt abortion is making the talking points. Or that fact that he's the 10th most liberal Senator in the Senate according to the National Journal. Ranking him the most liberal of all the Dem Presidential hopefuls. Which is all fine and dandy, he is a liberal. But I doubt he was pointing out this fact to the predominately conservative voters in the state of South Carolina.

Do I think Obama is a good, Christian man? I'm not sure it's any of my business. But it's becoming important because Senator Obama is now asking to be a disciple of the word of God ("instrument of God") in his speeches.

And he has been baptized and accepted the Lord as his savior, and as another preacher has written, it is not Christian to doubt another Christian's faith. So I shouldn't.

But in a world where they petition to have God removed from the Pledge of Alliegance, the 10 Commandments from court houses, prayer taken away from sporting events, and Christmas is removed in favor of "winter" or "holiday" ... how can I not believe that he's pandering to an audience in an effort to retain their votes? In light of his comments, let's ask this question: is Obama seeking his own glory, or the glory of God?
