More on "no-kill" shelters and Winograd

So in the comments of the post below, Meryl points to a Dallas Morning News Article / Interview that was done on the 23rd of September. Good article, and Winograd does address some of my concerns about where the pets go. He says there are enough homes for them all. By the numbers, I'd bet he was right.

Anyway, if you search Winograd at Dallas.com you get letters to the editor and this post. Note the name of the woman and the organization. PETA. If you do a google search for Winograd, in the news section you get this. And this commentary at the Ithaca Journal. Note the name and the organization. Same woman. Same PETA. Teresa Chagrin of Norfolk, VA appears to be mighty upset about Winograd and his book / beliefs. Norfolk, VA ... isn't that near where PETA was euthanizing dogs and cats and throwing them in dumpsters?

PETA is the champion of chickens and cows and political agendas. They have never card for animals as pets. Perhaps they think animals are above being pets to humans. Who knows. They've never seen a dime of my money and they never will.

I don't like euthanizing healthy pets. I think no-kill shelters are great. And it's so funny that we're talking about this, because my friend has posted the following at Facebook:

I know a lady that found 6 lab mix puppies (see below)...The woman that found them is going to take them to a shelter if someone doesn't adopt them (a kill shelter). So I basically stepped in and said that if worse came to worse I would at least take them in my back yard and see if I could find an adoption (no-kill) center to take them while I see if I can find anyone to adopt them.

Isn't it wierd how all the world is connected? And how similar those baby doggies look to Mavvy? If you know anyone in North Carolina (near Charleston) that wants a pup ... let me know.
