John Edwards -- no wait! Elizabeth Edwards!

I was perusing Slate and saw this article comparing reactions by the Pres Candidates to the MoveOn.Org "General Betray Us" campaign and the Rush Limbaugh, "Phony Soldiers" debacle and found this really, really funny:

John Edwards
MoveOn: Elizabeth Edwards: "Someone who's spent their life in the military doesn't deserve 'General Betray Us.' "

Limbaugh: Elizabeth Edwards called Limbaugh a draft dodger and said: "Rush Limbaugh should be ashamed of himself for calling brave members of our military 'phony soldiers.' There's nothing phony about the sacrifices being made by any of our troops in Iraq."

Priceless. Can John not speak for himself? Or does he allow his wife to answer all the tough, political questions?

To the point of Slate, why did the Democrats not react more vehemently to Limbaugh, as the Reps did the MoveOn.org ... I would think the answer is obvious.

Because one was clearly a despicable attack on a private, military citizen who could not stand up for himself in the media and the other was a commentator known for incendiary commentary who has a radio show and platform from which to rally support to his cause.

General Petreaus is a decorated officer who has a proven and distinguished record. He did not deserve to be attacked. Those responsible for that ad should be ashamed of themselves.
