More on th Jena 6
Michelle Malkin has a colum up ... and she's knee jerk reacting ... in a way I don't agree with.
And she claims to only write about things that don't get a lot of coverage. Umm ... not so much. The headline story day is about Ahmadinejad's visit to Columbia. That's being covered at CNN, FoxNews, ABC ... etc.
And furthermore, this incident happened over a year ago. And we are just hearing about it now. I was shocked that she didn't have it sooner. The fact that it was absent was very telling. The fact that Drudge doesn't have a link is telling.
It doesn't fit in with their belief structure. They can't agree with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on anything. Therefore, they have to disagree with them. Which is just wrong.
I talked about the Jena 6 HERE. And I emailed LoneStarTimes and encouraged THIS posting. Look at the comments. I'm all over it.
This week there are rallies taking place. Thousands were bussed in from Dallas to attend.
Let me be clear: these 6 boys that beat up on one student should be punished. Michael Bell, who has priors, should be punished more severely. But in no reality will you ever get me to believe that this was done fairly. A black student was beaten with glass bottles. The students involved were charged with misdeamenors. As far as I know, bottles actually can be used as deadly weapons. I've never heard of a sneaker being used to murder anyone.
This town is backwards. This town needs real help. I don't think Jesse and Al are going to be the ones to help them ... but the more we spotlight these backwards places the more pressure (I think) we put on them to change.
And this ... just in from CNN ... Two Arrested Near Jena, LA for nooses hanging from truck. Can we honestly say this case is not about racism? Really? Can Michelle and Drudge and others sit back and honestly say this is race baiting from the left?
Not and sleep well at night.
The driver was drunk and his passenger was 16. They admitted their families were KKK. They had an unloaded gun and brass knuckles and were driving by Jena 6 protestors. Slowly. They drove by a group of (mostly black) people with nooses hanging from the back of their truck. Does this really happen anywhere but in Hollywood movies?
We can not stand by and let this sort of behavior happen. More and more I feel like the things we sit by and silently watch happen reflect on us. If you know its happening, if you see it happening, if you do not say anything ... you are guilty of doing it. If we don't stand up and say racism of this kind will not be tolerated in this society, we're guilty ourselves.
