Want to hear something funny?

So FC Dallas (which I just learned is Football Club Dallas) played the LA Galaxy last night. They had billboards up all spring and summer with David Beckham's picture on them and things like "Get your tickets now!"

They were able to raise the prices of seats in response:
FC Dallas used Mr. Beckham's star power to charge higher ticket prices for
last night's game, which was part of the first-ever SuperLiga, a tournament (and
marketing showcase) involving four teams from Major League Soccer and four from
Mexico.

Deluxe field seats for the game went on sale at $250, twice the price
of comparable seats for the Dallas club's SuperLiga games against Mexican teams.
Midrange seats cost $65, up from $40, while the cheapest tickets cost $35
instead of $20.

They had signs all along the Tollway for 2 weeks that read: "July 31st, expect delays 6PM - 9PM." They had sold out Pizza Hut Park for the game. People were excited.

David Beckham didn't show up. He didn't even sit on the bench.

He hurt his ankle playing in Englad a few weeks back and his doctor recommended he sit this one out.

I bet those ticket holders were oh, so happy! To their credit, they did show up. Traffic going home last night was awful. Unfortunately, to add insult to... well, Beckham's injury, FC Dallas lost.

Word is the management is going to offer "special ticket offers" to fans that feel like the team pulled the 'ole "bait and switch."

My question? If we call it soccer here ... why isn't it SC Dallas?
