More on Beauchamp - and Barry Bonds

If you read nothing else today ... read this from Michelle Malkin. If nothing else, it tells you (and points to links) completely relating the whole Scott "Thomas" Beauchamp, "Baghdad Diarist" episode.

And she's a better writer than me ... so it might make more sense!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Barry Bonds broke the record. I'm glad I was at National Night Out instead of near a television to see it. I doubt my husband sees it that way ... but he's a less emotional creature than me. I like the linked story from the AP about it. Emphasis mine.
Absent, too, were the fans who held up asterisk signs, sure that Bonds wasn't the real deal and that his power came from steroids. Bonds didn't face such suspicions at AT&T Park, in front of a loyal, home crowd. Bonds has always denied knowingly using performance- enhancing drugs.
Even reporters don't believe him. It's like come on Barry ... really?

Lewis says he's spent enough money to get the "good" stuff that you can't even test for. And that we'll never know. He set out to break that home-run record, I guess he was going to do it hook or by crook.

But if you're curious as to what National Night Out is ... it's the neighborhood watch program, essentially, rebranded. It's a block party that the local police and fire department support. They distribute tips on how to keep your house safe and the number one recommended crime deterrent is knowing your neighbors. So Lewis and I went and participated, because - it's always a good idea to know your surroundings and there are safety in numbers. I wanted to know trouble spots in the neighborhood and who had kids and who didn't. Who liked dogs and who didn't. Would be willing to dog sit and who wouldn't ... :)

It was nice to meet everyone and they were glad we participated, I think.
