Does Not Need Congressional Approval
The inmate has taken over the asylum. Or the warden is now in the jail with the criminals?
Whatever bad analogy you want to lay on this ... Bush announces 'limited' steps on loan crunch ... it's just bad.
And as with all things ... they insist it is not a "bail out."
My left arm.
The FHA was not designed to help those that did not make payments, it was designed to help those with medium or bad credit and first time home buyers. So this expansion seems a great deal like a bail out to me.
The plan is meant to make it easier to buy a home. But the point in all of this isn't home ownership - it's too much home, ownership. Why do they have to have 3,000 square feet??? Why? My husband, myself and our dog, only really hang out in probably 1,000 sq ft of our 1900 sq ft home. And in our neighborhood, our house is tiny.
And I know part of the American dream is home ownership and that housing is a primary need. But do we need to encourage those that don't pay their bills (you don't get to be subprime on accident) to take out large loans for homes? Really? Shouldn't we encourage paying off debt first and rebuilding credit? I know that some people come upon hard times and things happen, mistakes are made. Which is why the FHA exists. Because people make mistakes and want to make things better for themselves. I really want to help those people!
But how do you tell the rabble from the diamond? How do you keep the baby but lose the bath water?
In happy home news - our neighbors sold their house! Or at least, a sale is pending. But I'm sure it will be no problem. So keep that in your prayers and wish them all the best!
