I am not surprised he quit. It wasn't really a matter of if more of when.
He was just not prepared to handle a post under such duress. He poorly handled the federal attorney investigation and he completely botched his senate hearings. He could not answer questions effectively and with any conviction. He just seemed ill-equipped.
I am sure he is a very smart man. I'm sure he is a great husband and father, but he just couldn't stand up to the bullies of Congress.
The attorney's serve at the pleasure of the President. If he doesn't like what they are wearing, he can remove them.
They should have fired all 92 in January of 04 and been done with it. But noooooo ... they had to mishandle the entire thing.
PR for this entire administration has always been a nightmare. And it either points to grave ignorance or arrogance.
I wish Mr. Gonzales well, and hope that he finds peace in his civilian life.
